It’s Never Too Late to Start a Side Hustle!
We know you’ve been hearing a lot about side hustles and are probably wondering, “how the heck do people do this?!”
It can be challenging especially when it comes to managing a business, your full-time job, kids, and family. That’s why we want to share practical tips with you, with our special guest, a fellow top Etsy seller and busy mom, Naa Ardua of PaperFlo Designs, on how you can start a side hustle and be successful while doing it!
Listen here:
We’re going to really dive deep into side hustle tips and also share time-saving tips for moms and parents so that you can successfully start and manage your side hustle.
And by the way...there are a lot of different side hustle options out there, but Etsy is, in our opinion, the best side hustle to make passive income. You're not going to get rich overnight, so if you need cash *right this second* it's probably not the best choice.
But, if you're looking to build a side hustle online business that makes sales in your sleep, lets you be creative at any age, and is the easiest online platform to sell on, we HIGHLY recommend becoming an Etsy Seller!
There are so many options from handmade products like T-shirts or jewelry, to digital downloads like workbooks or planners, to printables, or even SVGs and PNGs, like our friend Naa Ardua makes in her Etsy shop.
Don’t Let Your Age Stop You
It’s truly never too late to start something new and that includes starting a side hustle. Yes, it can be intimidating and scary but keep in mind that even if you’re in your 40s you still have over half of your life to achieve your goals and dreams!
We all have that thing or two that we’ve wished we had done, now is the time to do it!
You can start at any point in your life and you can start over whenever you want. There’s a freeing and empowering feeling to that right!?
Time Management
When starting a side-hustle, time management is going to be something that you will really need to focus on. You're going to have to find a way to fit your new small business in alongside all of the other parts of your life that feel busy like managing a day job, managing your household, and spending time with your family.
What we recommend to anyone looking to start a side hustle is to sit down and take a look at your daily and weekly schedule and how you spend your time.
Where can you fit in working on your side hustle? Will you have to take time away from something else? Do you actually have the time to devote to your side hustle?
You should be asking yourself these questions and be completely honest with yourself.
Starting a side hustle takes dedication if you want it to be successful and that means spending the time and effort needed.
One tip we love from Naa Ardua is to use is setting a timer for a dedicated amount of time every day or maybe every other day. That way you know for the next 25 to 30 minutes the only thing you’re focusing on is your side hustle. This is how she started learning Procreate and eventually went on to build a top SVG shop on Etsy, which eventually replaced her full time job.
(If you are curious about how Naa Ardua made selling SVGs on Etsy her full time job, you might want to check out her course [affiliate link] )
Setting a normal time to work on your side-hustle can help you be more successful, because when you make this a part of your routine even your family will become accustomed to it!
Prioritize Your Dreams
If you want your dreams to come true you have to prioritize them. They won’t just happen on their own! You’ll need to make the time commitment and be willing to be busier than you were before.
It’s great to remind yourself what you’re working towards and that it will be worth the hustle. Really knowing why you want to have a side hustle will help you stay motivated.
It’s also important to be patient with yourself and your side hustle. It’s not going to happen overnight and it’s easy to lose faith because you are not seeing results right away.
Be okay with your own journey. Your side hustle journey is not going to be the same as everyone else’s so don’t compare yourself with them.
Slow progress is still progress!
Our final takeaway...Enjoy the journey that you’re on and don’t get down on yourself when you don’t see results right away. Building your side hustle will take time but if you stick with it and are devoted you will see the results you want.
And, if you want to learn more about growing your Etsy shop and finally starting that side hustle, you should start with our free training.
